Work to Start on Tenerife F1 Circuit

Tenerife F1 Race Track

After a along delay the Tenerife F1 circuit that was proposed in 2014 is to be built within the municipality of Granadilla de Abona which now has been given the go ahead and construction should start next month at the cost of €23m and to be completed, hopefully by 2018.

The location is perfect as its less than three kilometres from the airport in the sunny south of the island and with its elevated position it will offer great views of the Atlantic Ocean and a scenic volcanic backdrop.

The GPO group are the company behind the design of the race track who have also designed the tracks in Barcelona-Catalunya, Navarra and Monteblanco circuits in Spain. The proposed Tenerife F1 Circuit will be a 4.067 km multi layout circuit with the added attraction of an off road course.
Formula one car’s have been predicted to reach speeds of up to 310 kilometers per hour towards the end of the main straight of the circuit, so this should make for very exciting racing when the Tenerife F1 circuit opens to the public in 2018.

I for one can´t wait for the race track to open, should be thrilling and a great addition to the must visit attractions here in Tenerife island.
